lyrics
This changes everything
I mean, Christ is to who my praises ring
He’s the living water and the bread of life
That he came down and died so our lies and our sin
would not condemn us, but so that we could live again
And this changes everything
I mean, Christ changed my music taste
He made love and forgiveness out of my pride and my hate
And he changed my friend selection
With His perfect resurrection
But did he really change me?
And this is the common misconception
That yeah, Christ died and was resurrected
And he took my sins, and your sins, and his an hers
And he saved us from death, but you can never be sure
And this is the common misconception
That even though Christ saved us when he resurrected
That we have to live a life of ultimate perfection
Or separation will take its place again
We view salvation as a temporary trend
So, right now, i need you to take every lie Satan has whispered in your ear
I need you to forget them so you can truly hear what i’m about to say
Christ. Changes. Everything.
Not just your best friends or your favorite bands
He changes your very soul with the nails that pierced his feet and his hands
He changes what you’re like
Who you are
Not your clothes
Not your cars,
He made the stars
Yet he took our scars
And we find it so bizarre
That scars can go away
We think that grace can’t cover our mistakes
And how selfish of us to think that way
Like we even deserved it in the first place
But, according to Ephesians 2:8, it is by God we are saved
It is through His grace, and his son who has raised
We are saved! We are saved!
We should be shouting it from the mountains!
We are saved!
Christ is risen, our sins are now paid
He conquered the grave
He freed the enslaved
Through Him we’re eternal, and forever He reigns
Satan’s been slain, God’s glory is praised
Singing “Holy! Holy! He’s beaten the grave!”
Yet….
we continue to stain
His perfect, matchless, glorious name
By living lives of mediocrity
By living a life full of shame
By living a life with one foot in the water
Where we starve our souls and leave our hearts depraved of the father
Ashamed to come to him
For we see ourselves as worthless scoffers, with nothing to offer
My friend, That is one of Satan’s deceptions
You are made whole through Christ’s resurrection
And i mean, sure, we’re not perfect
But that’s why He had to be
Blameless he took our sins so our souls could be set free
And all we need is the faith of a seed
To let Christ take ahold and turn our faiths into trees
But it’s all up to you
God wants your love for Him to be so strong, faithful and true
So you have to choose!
You can’t halfway dive off a diving board
You can’t, half-hit a home run to add points to your score
It’s all or nothing
You’re hot or you’re cold
You were bought at a price
But you decide to be sold
Christ really does change everything
He can change you too, but you have to choose
You need to make the choice
To let Him save you from death
and watch as angels rejoice
